A forum is a gathering of Citizen Councilors during a open round of participation, when Citizen Councilors can submit surveys to the King County Council. Forum Rounds generally occur 2 to 3 times per year, last 6 weeks, and are focused on a topic the Council is managing.
In-Person Forums
Forums occur in-person, during an event where a host has people over to their home or at a public place, like a library. At an in-person forum, a host organizes the event, everybody watches the topic video and reviews the topic information and people have the opportunity to talk about their values and beliefs. During in-person discussions, everybody gets to say what they want without any interruptions and then there is time for open discussion before everyone takes the paper survey.
Online Forums
Forums also exist online, when Citizen Councilors leave comments or respond to comments on a web page, and we summarize those discussions in the online Forum page. For specific discussion topics, we also have an in-depth discussion page for people within groups to coordinate logistics for meetings, or for people to have more detailed conversations.
